Okpebholo approves purchase of four Prado Jeeps, four Hilux vans for EDSOGPADEC

By Editor March 20, 2025 The Edo State Government has approved the contracts for the purchase of four Hilux vans and four Prado Jeeps for the State Oil and Gas Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC, DailyMonitorngr reports that the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon Paul Ohonbamu disclosed this after the State's weekly Executive Council meeting. Ohonbamu said the approval for the purchase of the vehicles was taken during the meeting presided over by  Governor Monday Okpebholo, who is also the chairman in Council on Wednesday. According to him, approval has been given for the purchase of vehicles for the Edo State Oil and Gas Development Commission. They are four Hilux vans and four Prado Jeeps. 8 persons burnt to death in a tanker explosion in Edo community

By Editor March 10, 2025 Eight passengers have been burnt to death in a tanker explosion in the Agbede community in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State. DailyMonitorngr reports that the accident happened on Sunday in the community by channel 5, along the Auchi- Benin expressway. Cyril Mathew, the Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident to newsmen on Monday in Benin City. Mathew said the accident involved four vehicles with two of them carrying diesel and other petroleum products. Mathew said the information available to him, revealed that one of the tankers descending the Ewu hill on the Benin-Auchi road had a failed brake and in the process rammed into other vehicles which ignited fire. Edo Assembly, NPC collaborates for successful e-birth registration of children

Ban on market unions: CRPP urges Okpebholo to set up committee to monitor compliance

By Editor December 3, 2024 The Edo State chapter of Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), has urged the state Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to set up committee to oversee the compliance on ban on market unions and associations. The State chairman of the group, Dr Samson Isibor, made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City. Isibor noted that the committee would also be mandated to monitor markets to ensure that the directives of the governor to unions and associations are complied with. Dailymonitorngr reports that CRPP, however, commended the State Governor for the people-oriented policies so far initiated since assumption of office in November 12, 2024. He noted that the activities of market unions and associations leaders are responsible to the unabated increases in prices of food items in markets across the state. The indices before all and sundry as I write this letter is that the Governor has hit the ground running. Over the past week, we have witnessed major pronouncements and appointments. First was the appointment of some key players in his Cabinet. Also was the appointment of some Commissioners and Heads of major Agencies and Parastatals. We have also witnessed a series of pronouncements about the dissolution of all Edo State owned Government Boards.
