Police arrest six officers over alleged assault of young man in Delta

By Editor  July 27, 2025 The Delta State Police Command has arrested six officers in connection with the assault of a young man around the Asaba Specialist Hospital area in the state. Dailymonitorngr reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen, said the incident happened on Sunday,  July 27,  2025. Edafe said the commissioner of Police in the State, Olufemi Abaniwonda, ordered the immediate identification and arrest of the officers involved in the incident. He said the commissioner also ordered the officers to be brought before the command headquarters for immediate disciplinary action. He added that the officers have  been identified, and detained pending the commencement of their orderly room trial. Police neutralize 6 suspected kidnappers in Delta, recovers arms, ammunition

By Editor  July 15, 2025 Six suspected kidnapperrs have been  neutralized in a gun duel with  operatives of the Delta State Police Command. Dailymonitorngr reports that the suspects were confirmed dead in the hospital where they were receiving treatment after the shootout. The spokesman of the Command, SP Bright Edafe who disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen said two other suspects are still receiving treatment in the hospital. Edafe said the operatives of the CP-Special assignment team engaged the suspects in the gun battle. He said the team in a sting operation raided the hideout of the suspects which include Solomon Danisco aka “Picolo”, Nelson Jacob, Oruma Saturday, Olise Jude, Precious Urhobowin, Whisky Rufus, aka “Asawana”, a native of Ewu community. Police arrest 5 suspected kidnappers with N5 million in Delta

By Editor  July 15, 2025 Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered a sum of N5million from them, believed to be part of ransom. Dailymonitorngr reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP. Bright Edafe disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen. Edafe said the arrest of Sanusi  Abdulahi led to the arrest of the other four members of the gang. He said Sanusi Abdulahi led  operatives to their hideout as the second Deputy, and Oko in Asaba. He alleged that the N5million was part of the ransom the suspects collected from one of their victims. He said an investigation revealed that the suspects have been allegedly responsible for a series of kidnappings at Ibusa, Ogwashi Ukwu, Obulu-Okiti, Isele-Ukwu, Isele-Asagba. Lassa, yellow Fevers, diphtheria claimed 28 lives in Edo

By Editor July 4, 2025 No fewer than 28 persons have been reportedly killed by Lassa, Yellow Fevers and Diptheria diseases in Edo State. Dailymonitorngr reports that the Commissioner for Health, Dr Cyril Oshiomhole disclosed this on Friday at a press conference in  Benin City. Oshiomhole also confirmed an outbreak of Dengue fever in the state. He said 86 cases of the fever have been reported across several local government areas in the state. He said out of the confirmed cases of 137 Lassa Fever, 24 deaths were recorded, out of the two cases of Yellow Fever, one death recorded while three deaths recorded of the eight confirmed cases of Diphtheria  disease. By Editor June 11, 2025 The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has explained how his administration's alignment with the  Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reduced the number of man-hours on Benin-Iruekpen road to 45 minutes. Okpebholo made the remarks on Wednesday during his usual routine inspection of the road project.  The governor, who expressed delight and satisfaction at the progress made noted that it has reduced travel time for commuters plying the road. By Editor June 10, 2025 Fifteen years after the closure of the Edo State owned transport company known as Edo Line,  Governor Monday Okpebholo has scheduled June 27, 2025, for the commencement of full transport activities by the company. Dailymonitorngr reports that the company was shut down by the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole following a protest by members of the Almagalmated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees, AUPCTRE. The unions had in March 2010, protested against the reappointment of now late Chief Amos Osunbor as the Board Chairman of the Company.
