Police, army, vigilantes rescue 20 as armed men kidnap 41 passengers in Edo

By Editor March 20, 2024 Armed men suspected to be herders have reportedly abducted 41 passengers along Lampese-Ogorimagogo road in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. DailyMonitorngr gathered that the passengers were kidnapped on March 18, 2024 in  four Toyota Hiace buses. The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor who confirmed the incident, however, said 20 of the victims have been rescued. SP Nwabuzor said the victims were rescued by police operatives in collaboration with the military personnel and vigilante, who  immediately moved to the scene and embarked on vigorous bush combing exercise. According to him, on March 18,  the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ibillo division, received information that hoodlums  suspected to be herdsmen emerged from the bush along Lampese- Ogorimagogo road, accosted four Toyota Hiace buses and  kidnapped the occupants into the bush. CRPP condemns continued impeachment move against Edo deputy governor

By Editor March 20, 2024 The Edo State chapter of the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has condemned the continuation of the impeachment process against the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu by the leadership of the State House of Assembly in spite of pleas by religious and political leaders. Dailymonitorngr reports that the House had on March 6, issued impeachment notice on the deputy governor over allegation of gross misconduct, perjury and disclosure of government classified information to the public. The house gave seven day ultimatum to the deputy governor respond to the allegations. Worried by the impeachment move, nine groups under the umbrella of the Catholic Lay groups of Nigeria on March 12, 2024 visited the House of Assembly to beg the leadership of the house to temper justice with mercy and jettison the impeachment move against the deputy governor. Corruption allegation case: Federal High Court orders service of summons on Gov Obaseki

------ Adjourns case to March 19 By Editor March 6, 2024     The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, gave an order for the Attorney General of Edo State, Oluwole Uzzi, to receive the court originating processes on behalf of the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki in a corruption-related caze. The case with suit number FHC/Abj/CS/./2023 was filed by Adaze Andrew Emwanta, Esq., against the Inspector General of Police, Obaseki and there others.
