The Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Maria Edeko has implored Christians to use the Easter celebration to seek the face of God for continuous peace as the state prepares for the September governorship election.

Dailymonitorngr reports that the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) lawmaker representing Esan North-East II in the State House of Assembly made the call in her Easter message to Nigerians and constituents.

Edeko also urged Christians to emulate the virtues of humility, perseverance and love as they commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"As we celebrate the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the calvary, I urge everyone to reflect on the significance of this day which embodies Christ's love for mankind by imbibing the virtues of love and selflessness as Jesus Christ did by sacrificing his life on the cross.

"Easter symbolises love, sacrifice and service to God. So we need to reflect on the significance", she said.
