The Director- General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major-General Shaibu Ibrahim has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide the necessary enablement for the actualization of the proposed NYSC Trust Fund if passed into law.

Shaibu made the call recently at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2022 Batch 'A' Stream II Corps members.

He said the provision of the necessary enablement will enhance the smooth operation and actualization of the proposed Trust Fund, especially by addressing the challenge of infrastructure.

He said it will also boost its skills and entrepreneurship development programme aimed at empowering corps members for self-employment  and wealth creation.

The NYSC Director-General, who commended members of the House of Representatives for the progress made so far in the legislative process on the bill, thanked Nigerians for the continuous show of support for the proposed Trust Fund.

Shaibu also appealed for the support of all stakeholders for the success of the organization's Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), which he said is aimed at providing easier access to free and qualitative health care, especially for the rural poor.

He, however, appealed to  well-to-do individuals and corporate bodies in the country to take a cue from Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, by donating well- equipped  ambulances for the operation of the NYSC mobile clinics.

He also called for the donation of other essential equipment and drugs that will facilitate the conduct of the agency's medical outreaches.
