Edo- Born Phyna wins BBNaija Season 7, N100m grand prize

Edo born actress, Josephina Otabor, known as Phyna on Sunday emerged winner of the Big Brother Naija Season 7 show.

This year’s season tagged “Level Up” saw 28 housemates  compete for the grand prize worth N100 million.

An elated Phyna, who won the grand prize of N100million screamed upon announcement of her victory by the host of the show, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

She edged out the five other finalists Bryann, Bella, Adekunle, Chichi and Daniella to clinch the coveted status of winner.

As winner, the 25-year-old Phyna gets N50 million cash prize, a new SUV from  Innosons Motors, a Dubai trip for two, a year supply of Pepsi, new techno phone-Camon 19, supply of Unik soap and supply of home appliances from Nexus among other mouth-watering prizes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that before the announcement, Phyna said "the journey had been an amazing and splendid one as she waits to embrace everything great.

The show which began July 23 and July 24 had 28 housemates who were evicted at different points of the show while six housemates made it to the grand finale.

Each of the housemates won prizes from different sponsors in the course of the show.

After spending 72 days in the Big Brother House,  Bryann emerged the first runner-up while Bella was declared the second runner-up.

Adekunle emerged the third runner-up with Chichi and Daniella as fourth and fifth respectively.

The fans of the show were thrilled at the grand finale with performances from Nigerian artistes MI, Falz and Pheelz.

Youths arrest, handover suspected female trafficker to Police after escaping from custody in Edo

The suspected female kidnapper/ trafficker in the middle of the victims  By Editor Aug 24, 2025 Youths at the PZ area on the Benin-Sapele road, Benin City, have reportedly rearrested a female suspected trafficker simply identified as Mrs Anita, who allegedly escaped from the South-Ibie Divisional Police headquarters, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. Dailymonitorngr gathered that the youths in the community located in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, however, handed over the suspect to the Edo State Police Command. 8 persons burnt to death in a tanker explosion in Edo community

By Editor March 10, 2025 Eight passengers have been burnt to death in a tanker explosion in the Agbede community in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State. DailyMonitorngr reports that the accident happened on Sunday in the community by channel 5, along the Auchi- Benin expressway. Cyril Mathew, the Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident to newsmen on Monday in Benin City. Mathew said the accident involved four vehicles with two of them carrying diesel and other petroleum products. Mathew said the information available to him, revealed that one of the tankers descending the Ewu hill on the Benin-Auchi road had a failed brake and in the process rammed into other vehicles which ignited fire.
