Yahoo Boy Who Poses as American Prostitute Jailed in Abuja

An Abuja High Court, sitting in Gwagwalada has convicted one Yahoo boy, Emmanuel Adeyi for posing as an American Prostitute as well as internet related fraud charge.

The court presided over by Justice I. Mohammed sentenced the accused to community service for three months, in addition to a fine of N30,000.

The suit was instituted against the convict by the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Mohammed also ordered the convict's iPhone 12 Pro Max to be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The charge sheet before the court read that the convict committed the offence sometimes in 2021 at Abuja.

He was said to have pretended to be a white woman named Sally, a prostitute who resides in the United States of America through his Reddit application.

Under this character, the convict obtained a sum of $600 from his victims, thereby committed the offence of cheating by impersonation.

The EFCC said the offence is contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code Law (Cap. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria) and punishable under Section 324 of the same Law.

When the charge was read to the convict, he pleaded guilty.
