Barely six days to the presidential and national assembly elections, the managing director of Benin- Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORDA), Engineer Saliu Ahmed has said that the people of  Etsako West Local Government Area will reward Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo State  with their votes for his developmental strides in the locality.

DailyMonitorngr reports that Adams Oshiomhole is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Edo North senatorial district for the election.

Ahmed, a chieftain of the party noted that the election will again afford the community the opportunity to reward the former governor of Edo  state for his developmental strides in the area particularly, the network of roads constructed, erosion control among others.

According to him, on February 25, 2023,  the former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole who is also the APC candidate for the Edo North senatorial district will garner sufficient votes from the Auchi people to dust his opponents based on the good works for the ancient town while in power more than 10 years ago.

The BORDA boss, who is holds a chieftaincy title of "Sodiq"of Auchi kingdom made the remarks in Benin City during a chat with newsmen.

"The Auchi people are well known for not abandoning their benefactors, rather than doing so, they will meet such persons halfway in their hours of need.

"In a nutshell, the administration of the former governor really favoured Auchi as it was during his eight-year tenure that some attention was paid to the deplorable state of the roads in the ancient town as well as the Auchi erosion menace.

"Hitherto, successive regimes had paid lip service to these twins problems until the Oshiomole administration took them headlong and decimated them, to the admiration of the people who had borne the brunt of the menace for years", he said.

He opined that on the two occasions Oshiomole contested for the highest political office in the state, he got the highest number of votes, both in his first tenure and reelection bid, from Auchi to make the difference.

While noting that Auchi people are appreciative of their benefactors, he added that  they will not abandon someone who sacrificed a lot for the good of the community and begin to chase shadows.

"The former comrade governor will never be forgotten in a hurry for the infrastructural facelift he bestowed on the ancient town", he added.
