members of the party in Esan Central Local Government Area had been teared apart over alleged anti- party activities and financial impropriety.
The crisis also resulted to the suspension and counter-suspension of some leaders of the party in the locality, which Chief Francis Inegbeniki, deputy Chairman of the Party in Edo Central, one of the suspended leaders refuted and described as "null and void."
The suspended members of the party in the locality are, Chief Francis Inegbeniki, deputy Chairman of the Party in Edo Central, William Shaka Momodu (Ward 5); Raphael Ehimen (Ward 5); Pius Igene (Ward 3); Godfrey Odalo (Ward 3); Francis Ubene (Ward 8); Barr. Kelvin Usifoh (Ward 6); Umane Isesele (Ward 7); Abudu Ugbesia (Ward 1); Aire Ijeh (Ward 4); Solomon Emiohe (Ward 10).
Announcing the ratification of the suspension of the embattled leaders on Friday in Benin City, the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie said the decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the State Chairman, David Imuse (rtd).
According to him, earlier in the day in Benin-City, the Working Committee ratified suspension of the alleged members pending findings of the 5 - man committee set up to investigate the extent of their culpability; and come up with recommendations.
"The decision to suspend the accused members was taken in a meeting of APC LGA Exco and other stakeholders held on the 20th of March 2023, for allegedly being involved in anti party activities in "the House of Representatives and Assembly elections of 18th March, 2023", he said.
He added that the Esan Central Local Government Area chapter of the APC had in a statement dated 21 March, 2023, signed by Rawlings Ason Ekeoba, Chairman of the party in the locality, all the local Government Exco, many leaders and stakeholders, conveyed the suspension of Chief Francis Inegbeniki, deputy Chairman of the Party in Edo Central and 10 others, to the State Working Committee.
Recall that the leaders of the local government area said the embattled persons were suspended for allegedly holding a clandestine meeting at a hotel in Eidenu, Irrua on the eve of the House of Assembly election and resolved to work against their party candidate for the House of Assembly election, Hon Victor Edoror.
They were also alleged to have been induced by the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party and their grand conspiracy to disallow Hon Edoror to get into the House and become the Speaker which might scuttle their agenda for Esan governor candidate from Esan Central Local Government Area.
