House of Assembly poll: Save me from APC Impeachment, Obaseki begs Women

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has appealed to electorate in the state to vote candidates of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming House of Assembly slated for March 11 in order to save him from being impeached by the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers to be elected in the election.

Obaseki made the call on Friday in Benin City during a meeting with women from the 12 wards and 619 units in Oredo Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The governor, represented by his  
Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha urged the people to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleging that plans are ongoing by the APC to rig their way through the election so as to impeach him and stop his developmental programmes which have benefited the people of Edo State.

"The March 11, 2023 House of Assembly election is for Governor Godwin Obaseki to sustain efforts at developing the State and making life more meaningful and better for Edo people.

"I urged all the electorate and people of the state to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) because plans are ongoing by the APC to rig their way through on March 11 so as to impeach the governor and stop his developmental programmes which have benefited the people of Edo State. 

"Adams Oshiomhole and his party are planning to disrupt all the good works the governor is doing in Edo State.

"We will stop him and his plans to disturb the governor and his developmental strides in Edo State.

"We are appealing to the people to vote for PDP and stop the enemy of the Edo people from halting our progress as a people.  All our votes must be one way. It must be PDP all the way",he said.

He, however, urged the women to vote for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the election noting that his government will sustain reforms and policies to ensure women's empowerment and welfare.

He noted that a vote for the PDP in the House of Assembly elections will help sustain the developmental strides of the administration.

Earlier, the Director General, Edo State PDP Campaign Council, Chief Osaro Idah, commended the women for their support for the Obaseki-led state government.


Idah appealed to PDP women in Oredo and the state to support Obaseki and ensure PDP candidates win the election come Saturday 11th March 2023.

"Please, let us mobilize for PDP candidates in the election and ensure they secure victory in the House of Assembly elections",he added.

On her part, the Woman Leader in Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Meg Aigbokhae said the election is critical and the party needs to be victorious as it needs its members in the House of Assembly to be able to support the governor to continue with his developmental strides in the State.

Six old commissioners make Obaseki's list

Gov. Godwin Obaseki By Editor June 8, 2023 Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has reappointed six of the former commissioners hitherto relieved of their jobs. Dailymonitorngr reports that the governor had last month sacked all the civil commissioners, Special Advisers and all other political appointees in the state except the Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government.
