EDO 2024: AZEMHE AZENA AS THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY

In elementary physics, the centre of gravity simply refers to the balance point of the body. A place where the upper and lower part of the body meets.

It socially refers to the meeting point where challenges meet with solutions, opportunities with preparedness and problems gravitate towards their solutions.

The personality of the leading Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial aspirant across all local councils as of today in Edo state, Dr Azemhe Azena,  the renowned clergyman, philanthropist and a great helper to many of the downtrodden, fits the description above.

His insistence and continuous desire for change and good governance as a young adult spurred him into seeking a political vehicle through which he can unlock his potential to affect the lives of the people he loves so much- the good people of Edo state.

As a young man growing up with zero privileges, Dr Azemhe Azena understands how it feels to be deprived of basic things in life. He is therefore in a better position to tackle the problem of poverty among the people, especially government-induced poverty.

Little wonder that Dr Azena has become the talking point, the centre of attraction and the man to beat in the present race for Osadebey house.

Some erroneously believe that the ebullient philanthropist is a political rookie, not used to the murky waters of Edo politics. Ironically, this has become the unique selling point for the Okpekpe-born televangelist among the people who have become very tired of the cyclical political elites that have held Edo state captive without meaningful development to show for it.

Those who are brandishing the zoning and rotation card have soon come to realise that competence, character and acceptability which Dr Azena exemplifies cannot be mindlessly sacrificed on the shallow altar of ethnic sentiment especially in this time of the much-needed political rebirth in Edo state.

Besides, the Labour Party, though vibrant and widely accepted and will always be acceptable to the good people of Edo state that are yearning for a change, it is still a relatively new party that has not captured power before now in Edo state.

So, putting the right foot forward from the very beginning without recourse to primordial consideration of tribe or political zone is the wisest thing to do in the circumstance.

Power must be grabbed first from the old existing opposition in the state before any intra-party arrangement, if necessary, comes to the table of discussion. Until and unless the game is hunted down by the hunter, the decision by the hunter on who gets what part of the animal is inconsequential.

For now, Dr Azemhe Azena is the right foot the Labour Party must put forward in Edo state come 2024. He towers above all in capacity, competence, altruism and generosity to the needy within and outside Edo state. Let us go for him. He is truly the centre of gravity.
