Edo State Exporters Cluster Council has appointed the immediate past Commissioner for Business, Trades and Cooperatives in the state, Hon Afishetu Braimah as its lifetime patron.

Dailymonitorngr reports that Edo State Exporters Cluster Council is an arm of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC)  which deals with non-oil exports.

The body also elected the former commissioner as its Advisor and Board of Trustees member.

Mr. Andrew Okhiulu, the Assistant Director for Nigerian Export Promotion Council in Edo State announced this at the inauguration of the state's new executives of the council  in Benin City.

Okhiulu said  in build-up to the election, an unanimous decision was taken by NEPC, that the former commissioner would so be appointed and honoured because of her passionate love, and all that she had done for the exco.

He also expressed the gratitude of the NEPC and Edo exporters cluster to the erstwhile commissioner  for her immense support towards the sustained growth of Edo exporters cluster.

According to him, the former commissioner is one of the people we have really worked with and we have really enjoyed working with her.

"She has really done quite a lot to move things forward. She has inspected products personally. She will look at the products and give her advice. And, she has helped several people with their products out of the shores of this country.

“She took products from Nigeria, specifically from the cluster to the United States of America (USA), and believe it or not some of our products are already on the shelves of shops out there in the USA.

"I don’t think anybody has achieved that before now in that capacity. Nobody has achieved that. So, I am really grateful we were able to work with her,” he noted.

In her remark, the former commissioner, who was given the opportunity to inaugurate the new Exco, appreciated NEPC and Edo Exporters Cluster for the privilege to serve as a life member board of trustees.

Hon Afishetu Braimoh, congratulated the new executives for their passion not just for the Edo state exporter cluster, but for how other people get their products to the global markets.

She opined that she had passion for SMEs, members of the clusters, and passion for proudly made  Edo products.

"In fact, I am already planning how I am going to move out products, now I have all the time to do that. My prayer is that we will continue to work together to really change the narrative for proudly made Edo products not just in Africa, but to the global market," she said.

Braimoh,  who was occasionally emotionally with tears of joy during the ceremony, encouraged the new executive members to take their work seriously, work as a team,  so that they can deliver deserved quality services to the cluster and to the Edo people.

DailyMonitorngr also reports that the ceremony featured presentation of memorable gifts and plagues, notably the “Queen Idia’s Head” artistic work and award of excellence to Hon. Afishetu Braimoh by the Edo exporters cluster members, as a demonstration of their hearty appreciation for her immense support towards landmark achievements by the cluster during her tenure.

The Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer  of Amineru Foods, Engineer and Mrs. Izuagbe also presented a plaque of honour to her  in appreciation for her contribution towards the growth and development of Amineru Foods.

In attendance at the ceremony were Mrs. Anita Eribo, Edojobs; Mrs. Antonia Afogu, representative of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives; Mrs Edosa Ogbebor, NFDAC; Mr. Andrew Okhiulu, NEPC, Benin, Mrs. Bafor Okitikpi, Shippers Council; Mr. Moses Egbabor, SMEDAN; Engr.
