Pandemonium in UNIBEN as man gets electrocuted

Pandemonium erupted at the premises of the Ekehuan campus of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) as a yet-to-be-identifed man was electrocuted while carrying out a repair on one of the electric poles in the axis. 

DailyMonitorngr reports that in a video that went viral on Thursday morning, the man, who wore electrical safety clothing, was seen at the top end of an electrical pole close to the institution's gate, apparently trying to fix power problem in the axis. 

Eyewitnesses said the man was held up on the pole and before they could turn off the transformer, he was electrocuted. 

It was gathered that the man was trying to fix one of the wires that was falling when the sudden incident happened.

It was also learnt that the the light was not turned off from the central switch before the deceased embarked on carrying on the repair.

According to the  witness, immediately they brought the light he was already close to the high tension wire and he got electrocuted. 

"He  was there for about 20mins before people started noticing what was happening to him", the witness said.

As of the time of filing this report, the State of the victim's health was yet to be ascertained. 

Benedicta Ehanire, public relations officer, UNIBEN, said she is yet to hear anything about the incident.
