Two women arrested for alleged trafficking of five minors in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have allegedly arrested two suspected child traffickers in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area. 

The two female suspects identified as Vera Okhakhu and Blessing Agbokha were allegedly arrested by operatives of the  Auchi Police Divisional Headquarters. 

Dailymonitorngr gathered that the suspects claimed to hail from  Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area of the State. 

DailyMonitorngr disclosed that the arrest of the suspects were  yet to be confirmed by the authorities of the State Police Command as the image maker of the command Mr Chidi Nwabuzor was yet to respond to calls  put to his mobile phone.

It was gathered that the suspects were arrested in connection with alleged trafficking of five  children, whose aged ranged between seven and nine years. 

The all-female children were said to be travelling to the Onitsha main market from Kaduna State before they were arrested at Auchi. 

It was also gathered that the children arrived at Auchi in the evening from Kaduna and were trying to establish contact with the two suspected female traffickers who were supposed to take them to Onitsha when some curious co-passengers became suspicious that the children were too young to travel on their own. 

According to a source, with the help of the driver and his colleagues at Onitsha Park in Auchi, the women who were called to come over and pick up the children as a result of information provided by the  children were nabbed. 

"The two women were questioned, before they were handed over to policemen at the Auchi Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigations. 

"When questioned, the suspects confessed to be child traffickers and that they were actually taking the children to Onitsha for menial jobs", he alleged.
