AAU Bags Corrupt-Free State University Award

Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation has rated  Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo state as one of the 10 most  highly rated ethically responsible and corrupt- free state university in  Nigeria.

DailyMonitorngr reports that Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation is an international nongovernmental organization promoting, exposing corruption  ethical education and value reorientation of global citizens.

The organization rated the university as one of the 10 most  highly rated ethically responsible and corrupt-free state university in  Nigeria during the presentation of the university with the Corporate Ethics and Integrity Compliance Award.

The organization based in Lokoja, Kogi State opined that the university was committed to quality  university education provision in Nigeria.

Speaking at the conferment/presentation ceremony at the institution's, Salih Musa Yakubu, the Executive Director of the centre said Ambrose Alli University was, at a time, among the selected ten  most corruption free state-owned university in Nigeria.

Yakubu added that the ability of  the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university to say no to certain unethical  things that are done arbitrarily helped in elevating the school  from its chronic bad records to a better one.

"Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma,  polled a cumulative corporate score of 76 percent  thereby defeating many other state-owned universities across Nigeria in a  covert investigation by the Centre to win its award", he said.

He also explained that Professor Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, the Vice Chancellor of the university  bagged the award on Ethical Leadership/Conduct Compliance with 77 percent votes to get the award.

He said the centre conferred on the Vice Chancellor  the highest Honorific title of the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) award which is the Integrity Icon of Nigeria (I.I.O.N).

According to him, as a reward for the awards won by  the University, the Vice Chancellor and his management team, the CESVO boss announced an offer of systemic training in Ethical Leadership for 200 members of AAU community.

"The beneficiaries staff are  made up of 100 staff members and 100 student leaders which will come at a 70 perecnt liability to the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation while the University caters for 30 percent.

"The centre also conferred Professional Ethics Compliance Awards and Work Place Ethics on M.A. Azeke, the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), 
Theophilus Agweda, Acting Vice Chancellor (Administration).

Others are Ambrose E. Odiase, the 
 Acting Registrar,  Otoide Matthew Osahon, Bursar-in-Charge and Jane Itohan Oviawe, the Acting ICT Director.

In his response, Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, who appreciated the centre for the awards, noted that the awards conferred on him, the University and other members of staff will go a long way to further dispel all the misinformation about the school.

"With this, we are more determined, as a team, to work  towards sustaining the required standard  expected from a university of first choice such as ours,”he added.
