Retrenchment looms in Edo State House of Assembly Service as Speaker of the House, Hon Blessing Agbebaku has hinted on plans to carry out staff verification exercise.

DailyMonitorngr reports that the  Speaker gave the hint when Owan West indigenes in the house paid him a congratulatory visit in Benin City.

Agbebaku said the staff audit, which will soon commence was geared towards fishing out ghost workers and sanitize the workforce.

"The Assembly is about to commence a staff audit to fish out ghost workers and sanitize the workforce. We will carry out a clean-up of staff," said the speaker",he said.

He noted that legislators of the 8th Assembly are intelligent, cerebral, and poised to make a difference in legislative activities.

While commending the Owan West staff for being steadfast and dedicated to duty, he, however, appealed to them to continue to pray for him to succeed in office, as he plans to make a difference in leadership.

Earlier, the leader of Owan West staff, Mr Samson Iloegben said the staff were in the Speaker's office to congratulate him and present a gift to him as part of their visit.

Iloegben promised that they would continue to support the Speaker and dedication to duty of the Owan West indigenes in the house.
