As Nigerians celebrates the 63rd Independence Anniversary, the Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Engineer Saliu Ahmed has urged citizens to been  patience with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration as it transform and re-engineer the nation's economy.

DailyMonitorngr reports that the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority boss made the call in his congratulatory message to celebrate the nation's 63rd Independence anniversary.

According to him, I am  a staunch believer in the President's renewed hope mantra. I urged Nigerians to exercise a little bit of patience as they try to transform and re-engineer the economy while also dismantling the systemic clogs preventing good governance.

Ahmed who noted that getting to  63 has been a good and rough journey, much as the independence came on a platter of Gold, opined that the route to the 63 years of nationhood had not being rosy.

While appreciating the vision of the founding fathers who thought it wise to agitate for the independence, he added that the best period for Nigeria history was the discovering of crude oil.

He opined that the discovery of crude oil made the country super rich, economic giant and father Christmas to many nations but pointing out that the gain was short lived.

He attributed the poor management of the gains of the oil to long successive military administration which couldn't get it right.

The BORBDA boss, however, expressed optimism of the capacity of the president Tinubu-led government to meet the yearnings of the people and also lay a solid foundation for a prosperous Nigeria despite the temporary setbacks the country may be facing.

"Right now, I am happy about the 63rd anniversary to appreciate the  uninterrupted democracy from 1999 to date.

"One cannot shy away from the present economic situation in the country and which is also  global, I can assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu possesses the magic wand to change the fortunes of the country and, therefore, requires a little more time to reset the system and create a brighter and more rewarding future for us all.

"The task before President Tinubu may look herculean, he will certainly not disappoint, having performed a similar feat in Lagos", he said.

On the fuel subsidy removal, he said, though the action may seem hash, he explained that it is, however, one of the painful and hard decisions that needed to be taken to clear the augean stable before the country can make a fresh start.

He appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope, noting that support for the Tinubu administration was the surest way to get out of the woods in time.

He also urged Nigerians to  sink their political, religion and ethnic differences and join hands to build a better country that we all can be proud of.
