Edo 2024: My Govt'll not embark on endless MoUs, hire social media influencers to cover up failures - Dekeri

Hon Anamero Dekeri, the lawmaker representing Etsako Federal Constituency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State at the weekend said if given the mandate to  govern the state, his administration would not embark on endless signing of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for the development of projects.

DailyMonitorngr reports that Dekeri, popularly known as "DANCO" said this while officially declaring his intention to contest the governorship election at the party's secretariat in Benin City.

He also said that he will not  hire social media influencers or bloggers to build Edo schools on social media platforms and fix roads on Facebook to cover up failures.

The federal lawmaker who expressed optimism to win the party's primary as well as the September, 2024 gubernatorial election, christened his declaration, "A Venture of Hope".

He promised to pay the 2024 West African Examinations Certificate (WAEC) enrollment fees for 10,000 students in the state as part of his fuel subsidy removal  palliatives. 

While noting that his aspiration represent hope for the people of Edo State, he opined that as a private citizen, he has successfully set up and managed businesses that have impacted positively on the lives of the people.

The APC governorship candidate hopeful, who reeled out his manifestoes, said he will declared a state of emergency on both federal and state roads in the state.

He pledged that his administration will not "hide behind one finger or shift blames" before developing the roads. 

"With your support, our government will declare a state of emergency on all Edo roads, both federal and state. I am aware of Edo citizens but yet to see a federal citizen. So, I will not hide behind one finger or shift blames to whoever.

"They are our roads and we will fix them because we need good roads to restore commerce and prevent our farm produce from unnecessary waste.

"Our transporters will bounce back to business, while the maintenance cost on our vehicles as a result of bad roads will drop", he said.

Dekeri who also promised to create a minimum of 400,000 jobs in the first four years in office through various initiatives in the agricultural value chain, said he has made 32 persons millionaires across the 32 wards that make up the Estako Federal Constituency.

He added that to boost agricultural sector in the state, his administration will commit 6.5 percent of its annual budget to the development of the sector.

He further added that he will set up a dedicated fund to support start-ups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Other policies and programmes listed by the governorship aspirant include investment in technical and vocation institution, investment in medical and health facilities, free ante-natal care and free healthcare for babies from 0-6 years as well as free healthcare services to person from 70 years and above among others.
