The People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader's forum in Edo North senatorial district, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe has provided  cogent reasons  for the adoption of Barrister Asue Ighodalo by Edo North PDP leaders

Oghiadomhe, the former,Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan said the decision to adopt Ighodalo as the party's candidate for the forthcoming September 21, governorahip election in Edo State was in line with the party's constitution that provides for zoning and  rotation of political power.

He also added that decision to  concede the governorship ticket to a competent candidate of the Edo Central extraction was an unselfish act to keep the PDP in Edo State intact as well as abide by the Constitution of the party.

The two-time former deputy governor in the state made the disclosure at the formal declaration of intention to contest the governorship election by Ighodalo in Benin City

According to him, the decision by Edo North leaders of the party to
throw its  weight  and support for Asue Ighodalo was influenced by concerns for justice, equity, fairness, and respect for the PDP Constitution which allows for zoning and power rotation .

"The  Edo North PDP leaders were strategic in the way they arrived at the consensus to adopt Ighodalo. At their first meeting on November 9, 2023, the Forum took due cognizance of the PDP Constitution which provided for zoning and rotation of party offices.

"It was in recognition of that that we  opted to support the Edo Central. The  only condition that would have deprived Edo Central of benefiting from the zoning arrangement is if they could not produce a capable individual to the Edo people", he said.

Oghiadomhe who described Asue Ighodalo as a treasure for the party,
explained that the Forum, comprising former and current political office holders either elected or appointed.
