Embark on New Year with renewed hopes, determination -- Ernest Umakhihe Tells Edolites

Dr Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants for the 2024 governorship election in Edo State has urged the people of the state to embark on the New Year with renewed hopes and determination.

Umakhihe, made the call in his 2024 New Year message to the people of the State on Monday.

The retired permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, opined that with the people a brighter future can be created for ourselves and generations to come.

He urged the people to join him on his journey of transformation of the state from the shackles of maladministration and bad governance.

"As we have bid farewell to the old year and usher in a new chapter, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and optimism. The dawning of this new year brings with it immense opportunities for progress, growth, and positive change. 

"As an Edo man  aspiring to govern Edo state, I stand before you today with a firm resolve to serve you, the people, with unwavering dedication and commitment.

"My vision for our great state is rooted in the principles of inclusivity, transparency, and sustainable development,  I pledge to work tirelessly towards creating an environment that fosters equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background or circumstances. 

"Together, we will build a society where every citizen feels valued, heard, and empowered", he assured.

The APC governorship candidate hopeful, who said he is aware of the current challenges facing the state noted that if given the ticket and emerged the governor of the state at the election, he is prepared to confront the challenges head-on with a comprehensive and strategic approach.

"I want to let you know that I’m aware of the current challenges we face in Edo state,  Our state faces numerous hurdles, ranging from poor economy to inadequate infrastructure, from healthcare accessibility to the poor state of security.

"Be rest assured that if given the opportunity to become our party’s flag bearer and subsequently elected to be Governor of the state, I am prepared to confront these challenges head-on with a comprehensive and strategic approach.

"I will collaborate with experts, listen to your concerns, and implement policies that address the root causes of these issues.

"Your engagement, feedback, and active participation are vital in shaping the policies and decisions that will shape our state's destiny.

"Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and together, let us build a state we can all be proud of", he added
