Umakhihe, the immediate past Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security was at the local governments as part of his statewide tour to woo delegates ahead of party's primary.

He noted that governance is about the people and see no reason why waiting for the federal government to come fix the road when palliative measures can be introduced to reduce the sufferings of those plying the roads.

The APC governorship aspirant, who also promised to fix internal roads in the Edo central senatorial district, pledged to revolutionize agricultural sector  through mechanization.

While adding that Edo Central was known for the cultivation of rice, assured that rice can be cultivated for 72 days, from planting to harvesting, as well as encourage all-year-round farming which will address food insecurity in the state.

Speaking on insecurity in the state, he lamented that people no longer go to their farms as a result of insecurity and promised to tackle the menace in the state through intelligence gathering as well as working closely with the traditional institution in the various communities to assist in law enforcement.

"Technology will also be deployed to achieve expected results in the fight against insecurity, so that the people would have confidence to move round without fear and return to their farms to help drive the goal of food sufficiency and the state will become food basket of the nation.

Umakhihe, who solicited the support of party's leaders and entire delegates to nominate him as the party's candidate for the governorship election, however, urged them not to make mistakes as Edo state is for us all and cannot afford to remain stagnant with all the natural endowment.

In their various responses, the party's chairman in Uhunwonde, Hon Osayenwenre Osawe, Esan West, Comrade Goddey Okhilu (AKA Jealousy) and Esan Central, Hon Rolis Ason Akhena, commended the governorship aspirant  for the good work he has been doing.
