Edo Guber: Edo deputy speaker drums support for PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo

The Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Maria Edeko has drummed support for  Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

Dailymonitorngr reports that the PDP lawmaker representing Esan North East constituency II declared her support for the PDP governorship candidate when she received members of the legislative arm of Esan Central local government council in her office. 

Edeko who called on the  councillors to give their unalloyed support to the PDP governorship candidate, noted that he has what it takes to govern the state and provide the much needed good governance.

According to her, Ighodalo has the intellectual capacity to govern and move the State to higher heights in terms of development and social welfare  

"As you go back to your various units and wards, go all out and campaign vigorously for Ighodalo to win the governorship election because he is a man with a proven track record of achievements in the global business community and would attract massive investment, if elected as governor. 

"The PDP has brought the best candidate in Esan land in the person of Asue Ighodalo and we must all go out to ensure victory for the survival of our dear state and our children's future," she said.

The Deputy Speaker further called on the councillors to provide logistics to the local vigilante in their domain in order to effectively combat insecurity at the grassroots.

She opined that men and women who have volunteered to secure lives and property should be encouraged so that they can put in their best.

"Kidnapping is on the increase in Esan land and we are now running, so we need to come together collectively to support the successful operations of the local the security network," she added. 

Earlier, the Leader of the legislative arm of the council, Mr Victor Okosun, who led other Councillors during the visitation, told the Deputy Speaker that they were in the Assembly to observe plenary and also use the opportunity to visit her. 

While thanking the Deputy Speaker for her contributions to legislative activities so far, assured that they would implement what they learnt during the visit to the House at their various wards.

He, however, appealed to the Deputy Speaker to help them come up with laws that can make the legislative arm stronger at the local level to enable them carry out their work diligently.
