May Day: We'll support all efforts to protect your rights - Edo deputy speaker assures workers

The Deputy Speaker of Edo House of Assembly,  Maria Oligbi-Edeko has assured workers in the state, that the House would support all efforts aimed at protecting their  rights and support to ensure that they are adequately rewarded and well catered for.


Dailymonitorngr reports that the Deputy Speaker gave the assurance  while felicitating  Nigerian workers, particularly workers in Edo State on this years workers Day celebration.

Edeko, who described Nigeria and Edo workers as the mainstay of the economy, opined that, without them, there could be no economic activity of any kind. 


In a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, the Peoples Democratic Party, representing Esan North- East constituency  II, noted  that workers are the key drivers of development.

She opined that despite the challenges workers faced,  they remained the most dedicated, committed and hardworking for the development and progress of the country and the state.

"I celebrate Edo workers for staying positive and committed as well as contributing to every efforts of the state government in ensuring that we Make Edo Great Again", she said.

Youths arrest, handover suspected female trafficker to Police after escaping from custody in Edo

The suspected female kidnapper/ trafficker in the middle of the victims  By Editor Aug 24, 2025 Youths at the PZ area on the Benin-Sapele road, Benin City, have reportedly rearrested a female suspected trafficker simply identified as Mrs Anita, who allegedly escaped from the South-Ibie Divisional Police headquarters, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. Dailymonitorngr gathered that the youths in the community located in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, however, handed over the suspect to the Edo State Police Command. The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Moses Yamu confirmed the rearrest when contacted. Yamu added that the suspect is already in the Command's custody, and the investigation is ongoing. 8 persons burnt to death in a tanker explosion in Edo community

By Editor March 10, 2025 Eight passengers have been burnt to death in a tanker explosion in the Agbede community in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State. DailyMonitorngr reports that the accident happened on Sunday in the community by channel 5, along the Auchi- Benin expressway. Cyril Mathew, the Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident to newsmen on Monday in Benin City. Mathew said the accident involved four vehicles with two of them carrying diesel and other petroleum products. Mathew said the information available to him, revealed that one of the tankers descending the Ewu hill on the Benin-Auchi road had a failed brake and in the process rammed into other vehicles which ignited fire.
