NDLEA arrest 75-year-old grandfather for drug trafficking

A 76-year-old, Mr. Francis Omofa, a native of Uzebba in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State  has been arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in connection with illicit drugs weighed  340.8kg.

DailyMonitorngr reports that, Francis a grandfather was arrested by the operatives of the agency in Abuja on June 18, 2024.

A statement by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and  Advocacy of the agency on Sunday in Abuja, said NDLEA operatives  intercepted a white Nissan Frontier pick up vehicle with amber lights and fake registration number of a security agency at Kiyi village in Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Babafemi said the vehicle was  loaded with 454 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 340.8kg procured at Uzeba, Edo state. 

He stated that the suspect, who was linked to the consignment, claimed to have been in the illicit drug business for 10 years.
