Ramadan: Edo SSG empowers 100 Muslim widows with N1million

DailyMonitorngr reports that the empowerment of the 100 widows was on behalf of the Eminent Muslims Forum of Nigeria.



Ikhilor, said the N1 million  empowerment of the widows was part of his contribution to the Muslim body in  making the ongoing Ramadan more easy for the beneficiaries.


The SSG, made the empowerment as a Special Guest at the Ramadan lecture and empowerment organised by the Eminent Muslims Forum of Nigeria in Benin City.


Represented by Alhaji Yusuf Bako, Secretary-general of the Forum, the Secretary to the State Government commended the Forum for its annual empowerment and imparting Islamic knowledge to the Muslim Umnah.


According to him, I am informed that part of the activities of the Eminent Muslims Forum is to give  empowerment to widows.


"Prior to this gathering, I made an inquiry and was told that an arrangement had been made for 100 widows at a special fund. I  therefore decided that for this particular occasion for 100 widows at N10,000 each, I am  giving out the sum of N1 million", he said.


He expressed, hope that the empowerment would go a long way to cushion the effect of the various socioeconomic problems of the widows within this Ramadan period.


He, also appreciated the contributions of the Eminent Muslims Forum in the area of Dawah in the State, and, however, sued for continuation.


Ikhilor, urged other Muslim organisations in the state to take a cue from the contributions of the Forum to the growth and development of Islam in the State.


He assured that as a Muslims he would  always remember what is right at all times.


Earlier, the president of the Eminent Muslims Forum of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Ali, the Managing Director, Muhammed Ali furniture company said the body was geared towards the propagation of Islam through Dawah (preaching) and empowerment of members for a successful Ramadan.


Muhammad, who spoke through Alhaji Yusuf Bako, the Secretary General of the body said the empowerment and the lecture was an annual event to speak on the excess of Ramadan and the need for Muslim to understand what it takes to be able to carry out the the fast in accordance to the tenets as preached by Prophet Muhammad.



"Prophet Muhammd had taught us  that we can get the rewards of being a Muslim, witnessed  and participated in the month of Ramadan.


"For today, this is a programme we do annually during the month of Ramadan for Ramadan lecture and  empowerment for Muslim Umnahs across the State.


"This annual programme has now become the "festival of yam". It is so-called because we share yams annually at the end of the programme," he added.


In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Hon Luqman Muhammad, who also commended the Forum for the annual programme, urged Muslims to always imbibe, exhibit the attitude and lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad.


Muhammed said it is by doing so, and  also extends love to fellow Muslims and non-Muslims that would make one a true Muslim and receive the rewards of Allah.


Some of the benefiting widows which include Mrs Mariam Musa, Mrs Sadat Yunusa and Mrs Rahamat Isisi, commended the SSG and the Eminent Muslims Forum of Nigeria for the empowerment and sue for its sustenance.
