Police neutralize 6 suspected kidnappers in Delta, recovers arms, ammunition

Six suspected kidnapperrs have been  neutralized in a gun duel with  operatives of the Delta State Police Command.

Dailymonitorngr reports that the suspects were confirmed dead in the hospital where they were receiving treatment after the shootout.

The spokesman of the Command, SP Bright Edafe who disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen said two other suspects are still receiving treatment in the hospital.

Edafe said the operatives of the CP-Special assignment team engaged the suspects in the gun battle.

He said the team in a sting operation raided the hideout of the suspects which include Solomon Danisco aka “Picolo”, Nelson Jacob, Oruma Saturday, Olise Jude, Precious Urhobowin, Whisky Rufus, aka “Asawana”, a native of Ewu community.

The Command's image maker explained that the operation took place on July 9, 2025, at about 8:35am along the Patani-Ughelli Expressway, near the Unenurhei axis.

According to him, during the operation, the suspects, heavily armed, engaged the operatives in a fierce gun duel during which the suspects and their gang members sustained serious gunshot injuries. 

"They were taken to the hospital, where six of them were confirmed dead while two others are still receiving treatment", he said.

Edafe listed items recovered from the suspects to include four locally-made guns and nineteen  rounds of live cartridges.
