DailyMonitorgnr recalls that on August 17, 2025, hundreds of youths and women in  the South Ibie community protested the alleged escape of the suspected kidnapper and human trafficker from the police station located in the area

The protesters who stormed the premises of the South Ibie Divisional Police headquarters alleged that the escape of the suspect was masterminded by some officers of the division.

They also visited the palace of the traditional ruler of the community, the Aidonogie of South Ibie, Aliyu Kelvin Danesi, to seek his intervention and called for the rearrest of the suspect to face justice.

The suspect, who was arrested by the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) in the South Ibie sector, was accused of abducting four male teenagers.

She was handed over to the Divisional Police headquarters for investigation and prosecution, where she was, however, alleged to have escaped a few days later.

The Divisional Police Officer of the station, CSP Anthony, who received the protesters assured them that the suspect would be rearrested.

Anthony also told them that the officers on duty when the incident happened have been reported to the authorities of the State Command.

On his part, Alhaji Aliyu Kelvin Danesi, the Aidonogie of South Ibie also told the protesters that the matter had been reported to the Commissioner of the Edo State Police Command.

While expressing disappointment with the incident, the traditional ruler assured the youths of his commitment to ensuring that justice prevails.
