No fewer than 40 serving members of the National Youth Service Corps lost their lives in road traffic crashes from January 2018 till date, according to findings by Sunday PUNCH. However, 98 corps members survived the crashes with varying degrees of injury during the review period. A breakdown showed that eight died in 2018, nine in 2019, two in 2020, 14 in 2021 and seven so far in 2022. Fifty-two corps members were injured in different road traffic crashes in 2018; 30 in 2019; 14 in 2021; and two so far this year. Findings by our correspondent revealed that many of the victims were on their way to or from the three-week orientation programme in various camps when they were involved in the crashes. The Permanent Secretary Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Mary Kemi Adeosun, has warned school principals across the 16 local government of the state to desist from collection of all kinds of illegal fees in all public secondary schools. Adeosun made this statement on Friday in a meeting held with all principals of Secondary Schools at Saint Anthony Secondary School Ilorin, the State capital. Engineer Jonathan Lawani, Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability said the waste manager before its sacking was in charge of Oregbeni Market, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state. The command's Deputy Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Jennifer Iwegbu in a statement, said the bandits carried out the reprisal attack after the command's operatives killed five kidnappers in the local government area last month. A Constitutional Lawyer, Mr Kayode Ajulo A constitution lawyer, Mr Kayode Ajulo, says three governors from the North are willing to support the presidential bid of Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate. Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa Delta Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Godfrey Enita, on Thursday expressed concern over the extent of damage wrought by flood on rice farm in the state.
