NDLEA arrest 75-year-old grandfather for drug trafficking

By Editor June 23, 2024 A 76-year-old, Mr. Francis Omofa, a native of Uzebba in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State  has been arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in connection with illicit drugs weighed  340.8kg. DailyMonitorngr reports that, Francis a grandfather was arrested by the operatives of the agency in Abuja on June 18, 2024. A statement by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and  Advocacy of the agency on Sunday in Abuja, said NDLEA operatives  intercepted a white Nissan Frontier pick up vehicle with amber lights and fake registration number of a security agency at Kiyi village in Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Babafemi said the vehicle was  loaded with 454 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 340.8kg procured at Uzeba, Edo state.  He stated that the suspect, who was linked to the consignment, claimed to have been in the illicit drug business for 10 years.

INEC extends CVR by four days, as 120,458 register in Edo, Ondo

Prof Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman, INEC By Editor June 4, 2024 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing  Continuous Voters Registration exercise in Edo and Ondo States by four days. The commission said the extention is to enable more eligible persons to register. Dailymonitorngr reports that the Commission also extended the duration of the exercise from 9 am to  5pm daily. Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee of the Commission disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen. Olumekun, said the decision to extend the CVR exercise was taken in a meeting held on June 4, 2024 to review the ongoing exercise earlier slated to end on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He said, the reviewing of the exercise, was occasioned by appeals by stakeholders, that the exercise should be extended to enable more people to register.
