Police launches investigation into killing, abduction of 12 persons in Edo

---As state govt keep mute By Editor January 24, 2023 Barely seven days after the people of Agor Emokpae community in  Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state protested over the killings and abduction of about 12 persons by gunmen, the state government is yet to respond to the incident. Dailymonitorngr reports that the residents of Agor Emokpae had last Wednesday protested to the Edo State Government House over the alleged killing of three members of the community and the kidnap of 12 persons. But reacting to the incident, the Edo State Police Command on Tuesday   said it has launched a full scale investigation into  the abduction of the 12 persons which included  school children and the killing of three others. The 15 persons were kidnapped at  Emokpae community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The residents of the community, who protested to the Edo State Government House in Benin City on Friday, said out of the 15 abducted persons three were killed by the gunmen. Seven days after the attack on Igueben railway station by unknown gunmen, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has blamed the management of the Nigerian Railways Corporation and traditional rulers for the attack. By Editor Jan 11, 2023 BEDC Corporate Headquarters in Benin City The managing director of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Dr Henry Ajagbawa has disclosed that the company needs about N100 billion to meter all its customers in the four franchise states.  Dailymonitorngr reports that the four franchise states are Edo, Delta,  Ondo and Ekiti.  Ajagbawa made the disclosure on Wednesday during a meeting with billing and payment agents in Benin City.  He, however, disclosed that the company does not have such huge money for the project. Briefing journalists in Benin City, Chris Nehikhare, commissioner for communication and orientation, listed those that has so far regained freedom to include a 65-year-old man, a nursing mother with her baby, a six-year-old girl and two siblings who are two and five-year-old, respectively.  "Following the directive from Governor Godwin Obaseki that the kidnappers that attacked the train in Igueben on Saturday be smoked out of their hiding and the persons abducted be rescued, we are happy to announce that six (6) persons have been rescued," Nehikhare said.
